Hi there! I am KONA. I am a big, beautiful goofy boy who somehow ended up at the shelter when my owner didnít want me. I am a big gentle soul with a tail that is constantly wagging. I love everyone, and I know how to sit, shake, laydown and Iím also potty trained.
I am quite overweight and I need to lose some major pounds!! Right now I am limping on my back leg and I'm at the vets where I'm getting some great care. I'll keep you posted on my leg! I will need a loving family that is committed to helping me with my weight issue once I'm all better!!
KONA Update MAY 15th:; Hi Everybody! Kona here. I am feeling sooooooooo much better after having surgery to my back legs in April. I am so happy to be getting back to being the happy-goofy-silly dude I am. I am getting stronger and stronger everyday, Iím eating and going potty just like normal, and Iíve even started playing with toys again. Anytime my foster mom or dad comes home, Iím sure to bring them my stuffed hippo to show them how happy I am to see them.
I love love love my foster home and have been on my best behavior. My foster mom has been so impressed with my manners and good listening (Iíve heard her say so). Especially during my surgical rehab, Iíve been such a patient guy. I resisted at first, but nowÖ I just love my crate (I go in all on my own). I love to have my ears, belly, and rump rubbed, and enjoy just sackin' out close to my foster mom and dad. I also love playing with toys but when playtime is over I am a very mellow guy and I love to curl up and snooze awhile, close to my people. Also, thereís another furry critter here- a little girl-dog, and jeez, is she the boss! Iím so much bigger than she is, but she tells me whatís what and Iím just fine with that. Really, I have so much love in my heart, I can't help but wag my tail and get all squishy-lovey with everyone I encounter. I canít wait until I am able to go on longer walks and meet the other four-leggers in the neighborhood.
My foster mom often tells me how handsome I am (I just love pillow talk!). I melt when she whispers sweetnothings in my ear. She tells me how puppy-soft my coat is and how velvety my jowls are! I am also happy to report that Iíve lost about 13 pounds. I still have a little more to lose, but I am visibly leaner and healthier.
KONA Update June 26:; The Vet says I am READY TO GO TO MY FOREVER HOME!! He was so impressed at how well Iíve healed and also, how much weight Iíve lost. I am down to 90lbs! Since our vet visit, my mom has been taking me on longer and longer walks. I LOVE LOVE LOVE going on walks and spending time outside. Everyday Iím getting stronger. My foster mom continues to tell me how sweet, kind, and loving I am.
Now that Iíve gotten a clean bill of health, I am ready to find my forever family. If you are looking for a sweet, loving, and loyal friend, IíM YOUR MAN.
